Over the years, a few
talented folks joined on for
a spell, but more often than
not, the band recorded and
performed as a twosome.

Rin Liminal Switch Volume One LP

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Released in 1995, black on black silkscreened record covers don’t look so good online.

Side A:

1. “Wasted Saturday” - Recorded on a 4-track cassette deck, some of the music even cuts through the machine’s hiss. Taped in Autumn of 1990. Vocals, guitar, flute performed by dawn.

2. “Pisau Cukur Sirkus” - Recorded on a cheap cassette deck, 10/1992. dawn on bouzouki & vocal, Joe on drums.

3. “Crept (Back Into The Shell of My Putrid Flesh)” - Recorded live at the Middle East Restaurant, Cambridge, MA, USA. February 10, 1995. dawn on guitar/vocal, and Joe on drums.

4. “Back Against the Wall” - February 10, 1995. Same as above.

Side B:

1. “Chasin’ Time” - Recorded live at the Populous Pudding, 1988. dawn handled the guitar and singing, Joe drummed on a table.

2. “Black Is the Color of My True Love’s Heart” - Recorded live to cassette in Charlie Krich’s basement, June 17, 1991. dawn sang and played guitar, Joe played drums. This was recorded during rehearsal. The booklet that accompanied Rin Liminal Switch Volume One mistakenly states that this was recorded at a benefit for the Union Street Community Center.

3. “YurupariĆ Revolt” - Same info as “Black Is The Color of My True Love’s Heart"

4. “S.T.H.Y.” - Same info as the previous two songs.

5. “Song for Ben Linder” - Live improv seque from a 1993 performance for the bartender at the Causeway, Boston, MA (an audience of one, partly due to being first on the bill,...  partly). dawn on balalaika, Joe on rattles/bells/drums

6. “Make ‘Em Pay” - improv/rant recorded live at H&D Machine, 11/04/1990. dawn sang into her mbira, Joe played drumset & slitdrum. This song was retitled as “The Golden Rule” when it was released on compact disc.

7. “Industrial Nightmare” (abridged version) - recorded live at UCONN, February 1993. dawn on guitar/vocal, Joe on drums.

8. “The Dead Giants of Cayapa” - improv excerpt recorded in Andy’s barn, Columbia, CT in 1990. dawn on guitar and Joe on drums.

9. “Shunken” - dawn on guitar, recorded live at the Platter Connection in 1989.

10. “Dead End Race” - Recorded in September of 1992, on an 8-track 1/4” reel-to-reel/mixer all-in-one Tascam rig. dawn sang and played the guitars and harmonica. Joe played drums. “Wasted Saturday” and “Dead End Race” are the only two songs on this record with overdubs, the rest are crap-fidelity live recordings.
